I'm not sure to be honest although I think you could still buy clocks that have different Chimes. Also some clocks will let you choose between three different chimes

why does this clocks strikes sound like the chimes
There are only 4 tone rods in the clock. The Big Ben melody uses those 4 notes for the chime one at a time. When the clock strikes it hits all four tone rods at once.

It's not a dead art. There are still some bands that play western swing; especially in the Austin (TX) area.
I'm from the swing part of texas , fortworth , people up here aren't even aware of who bob wills is anymore there 2 plaques of him here, we need to fix that
